QUICK START
From download to first world.
Keyverse starts with the essentials first, then brings in the heavier catalog and news content after the launcher is ready. That keeps the first screen responsive without hiding what the launcher is doing.
- 01Install
Run Keyverse Setup, choose where it lives, and finish the guided setup.
- 02Sign in
Open Accounts, copy the device code, and complete Microsoft sign-in in your browser.
- 03Create a profile
Choose a Minecraft version, loader, name, and game folder for your setup.
- 04Play
Keyverse checks files, prepares Java when needed, and launches Minecraft with live progress.
The launcher keeps its loading screen visible long enough to explain what is happening, while a recovery timer prevents a slow external request from trapping you on that screen.
DOWNLOADS & SETUP
A setup flow that feels like Keyverse.
The Windows installer uses Keyverse branding, a folder picker, installation progress, and a completion screen. Choose the application location, follow the setup steps, and launch Keyverse when installation finishes.
Where should I install Keyverse?
Use the suggested per-user location unless you have a reason to keep applications elsewhere. Keep your profile folders on a drive with enough space for Minecraft assets, worlds, screenshots, and mods.
Can I close setup while it is installing?
Let the setup progress finish first. Once it completes, open Keyverse from the shortcut or your applications list.
MICROSOFT SIGN-IN
Sign in without giving Keyverse your password.
Keyverse uses the Microsoft device-code flow. The launcher gives you a short code with a copy button, and your browser handles the account sign-in and approval.
Select Copy code in the launcher. A confirmation appears when it is on your clipboard.
Use the Microsoft page opened by Keyverse and sign in to the account that owns Minecraft.
Keep Keyverse open until the account card appears. You can then select it for launch.
Keyverse never asks for, receives, or stores your Microsoft password. It stores the authorization information locally so your selected account can launch Minecraft.
PROFILES & GAME FILES
Keep worlds, loaders, and experiments separate.
A profile records its Minecraft version, loader, Java and memory choices, game directory, installed mods, and recent play history. Keep a clean vanilla profile beside Fabric, Quilt, Forge, or NeoForge profiles instead of mixing everything together.
Universal game preferences and resource packs
In Settings → Game & Java, universal preferences share supported audio, video, chat, and control options before launch and save changes after exit. Key bindings use separate legacy and modern compatibility groups. Worlds, mods, pack selection, version metadata, and mod-specific configuration remain local.
The shared resource pack library imports installed packs and makes them available at the next launch of each instance. Conflicting filenames keep both versions. Enable a compatible pack inside Minecraft. Removing an instance copy does not delete the shared original. Open the shared library from Settings to manage the collection.
Your original options file is preserved in the instance’s .keyverse-backups/options-before-universal.txt. You can turn either sharing option off; existing local files are kept.
Deleting a profile removes its managed Keyverse game folder. If a profile points to a custom folder outside Keyverse-managed locations, Keyverse removes only the profile record and deliberately keeps that folder so a shared Minecraft installation is never wiped by accident.
Why can't I delete a profile while Minecraft is running?
Keyverse blocks the deletion so it cannot remove files the game is still using. Stop Minecraft from Home, wait for the status to return to idle, then delete the profile.
LAUNCH & PERFORMANCE
See the work, then get into the game.
Launch progress follows the real sequence: profile checks, version metadata, missing files, assets, Java, loader preparation, native extraction, then Minecraft itself. The launcher batches game log updates so an active console does not make the rest of the interface feel heavy.
Keyverse does not wait for optional news and mod discovery before showing the usable launcher. It also has a startup failsafe, so a delayed nonessential request cannot lock the app on the opening screen.
MODS & CURSEFORGE
Build a compatible profile, not a messy folder.
Select a profile first. Keyverse can then match Modrinth content against its Minecraft version and loader. The Mods area also includes curated performance and QoL choices, installed-file controls, resource packs, shaders, modpacks, and a CurseForge route.
Search Modrinth inside Keyverse, or open the official CurseForge catalog from its own tab.
Check Minecraft version, loader, and dependencies before adding a file.
Use Import downloaded .jar after a CurseForge download to copy only that selected file into the active profile.
- Performance choices include well-known projects such as Sodium, Lithium, and FerriteCore where compatible.
- Keyverse keeps each profile's mods in its own game directory.
- Server rules always come first, including for client-side visual or convenience mods.
The mod install dialog looks misplaced or moves while scrolling
Update to the newest launcher build. The installation dialog is mounted above the scrolling Mods page, which keeps it centered and prevents the page behind it from jumping.
APPEARANCE
Make the launcher feel like yours.
Click the Keyverse mark in the sidebar to open the icon palette. Pick the original mark or switch between Creeper green, Redstone red, Diamond blue, Gold yellow, white, and pink variants. Optional PNG variants can also be added before packaging.
SETTINGS & PERFORMANCE
Fine-tune memory, Java, and visuals.
Control memory allocation, custom JVM arguments, theme preferences, and dashboard widget layouts.
Presets from 2 GB to 12 GB with automatic heap recommendations for your system.
Choose your accent color, launcher logo variant, and dark/light mode preference.
Reorder and toggle launcher home screen widgets to suit your playstyle.
LAUNCHER TOOLS
Follow the process. Find the files.
Open an instance to manage its settings, content, worlds, and logs. Play resolves that instance's version, loader, game directory, memory, and Java configuration before starting the real Minecraft process.
Live console controls
The console receives game stdout and stderr. Use search and level filters to narrow output, pause automatic scrolling to inspect a problem, or copy/save logs for support. Clearing the displayed console does not restart Minecraft. Stopping and restarting act on the tracked game process.
Separate window and saved console themes
The console opens automatically when launching and remains open after Minecraft exits. Hiding the launcher does not hide the console. Use Theme in the console toolbar, or General & Theme in launcher settings, to select Midnight, Forest, Nebula, Paper, the launcher theme, or a custom background/text/accent palette. Text size, timestamps, and line wrapping are saved across launches.
Instance folders and settings
Files opens the selected instance directory. Mods, Config, Resourcepacks, Screenshots, and Worlds point to their actual subfolders. Change memory, Java, JVM arguments, and game options in instance settings; check the console if a runtime or argument is rejected.
Review exported logs before posting them publicly. They can contain local paths, player names, and server addresses.
SKIN STUDIO
From pixels to your profile.
Import a PNG or start editing the current skin. Paint in the 2D UV editor or on the 3D model, choose Steve or Alex geometry, isolate body parts, and work with inner or outer layers. Brush, eraser, color, brightness, opacity, and undo/redo controls share the same skin canvas.
Cape import and preview
Import a supported cape PNG, toggle its visibility, and preview its placement on the model. Save appearance assets to your Keyverse profile, or export the edited assets. A Keyverse cape is not an entitlement to an official Mojang cape; visibility in Minecraft depends on supported client/server integration.
Save and apply
Export PNG saves a local asset. Apply to Profile updates the selected profile appearance; Cloud profile persistence requires Keyverse Cloud sign-in. Watch the operation's success or error result before leaving the editor.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Common questions answered.
Minecraft will not start
Read the stage and game console on Home. Verify the profile's Java runtime and memory, then try a clean vanilla profile to separate a launcher issue from a loader or mod conflict.
A downloaded mod does not work
Confirm its Minecraft version, loader, and dependencies. A Forge mod will not load on Fabric, and a mod for another Minecraft version can fail before the game reaches the title screen.
Keyverse seems to close while I play
Check the Keep launcher open while playing setting. When it is disabled, Keyverse hides itself after launch; Minecraft continues running and Keyverse can be reopened normally.

PRIVACY & FAIR PLAY
A launcher should respect the game and the player.
Before Java starts, Keyverse inspects enabled mod archives for unsafe paths, archive bombs, malformed JARs, duplicate mod IDs, embedded executables, known cheat-client identities, and clusters of fair-play-sensitive capabilities. It also saves SHA-256 fingerprints in a local integrity report and repairs altered managed KeyClient bundles from the packaged source.
Fair Play Guard is a transparent client-side launch safeguard. It can prevent unsafe or clearly cheat-focused clients from starting through Keyverse, but it does not inspect another player's computer and is not a replacement for a server operator's own anti-cheat.
Keyverse stores profiles, preferences, and authorization data locally on the device so it can remember the selected setup. Read the complete Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for project details.
DEVELOPMENT
Build Keyverse locally.
Keyverse uses Electron, React, TypeScript, Zustand, and electron-builder. Use the scripts below from the project root.
npm install
npm run dev
# Validate before packaging
npm run typecheck
npm run build
# Create native platform packages
npm run package:win
npm run package:mac
npm run package:linux
The custom installer assets live in build/installer-sidebar.bmp and build/installer-header.bmp. Build platform-specific release files on their matching operating systems.
KEYVERSE SOCIAL
Your identity. Your community.
Sign into Keyverse Cloud from Accounts. This session is separate from the Microsoft account used to launch Minecraft. Cloud profiles, friendships, communities, channels, roles, and messages are persisted in Supabase rather than only in the current window.
Profiles, friends, and messages
Set a display name, avatar, bio, presence, and custom status. Search by gamer tag to send a friend request, accept or decline requests, and open a direct conversation. The current source includes message editing/deletion, replies, reactions, and image/file attachments. Private attachment access is checked against the conversation.
Communities and permissions
Create a community, choose its icon, create text or announcement channels, and invite members using the generated invite. Owners manage server settings, roles, and membership. Server-side rules enforce access; hiding a button is not the permission boundary.
Cloud setup and authentication errors
For a self-hosted project, run the complete
supabase/RUN_THIS_FIRST.sqlin a new Supabase SQL Editor query, then runsupabase/verify.sql. Do not run isolated policy fragments. Configure the project's public URL and anon key, never a service-role key. If your session expires, open Accounts and sign in again.Cloud actions require connectivity and valid project configuration. GIF search and custom server emoji catalogs are not advertised as available without a configured, implemented provider and storage workflow.
